LOL... its the first post of 2011 from me.... but I am gonna say things that happened in December instead... i just realised i have forgotten lots of things that happened in December.... Since this is a diary... i should have it inside yeah? =)

Anyway, December was a month of rushing.... i was practically working everyday... my off days were spent of family gatherings/friends birthday... i was even busy on my off day.. lol....

My cousin's (mum's side) wedding was the highlight for the year I say... my two uncles and their families came back from Australia to attend my cousin Eileen's wedding! =)

On Christmas day, my cousin shux invited us over to her house.... for christmas dinner.... =) turkey and stuff... nice gathering... the turkey was actually quite nice... i enjoyed the turkey. =)

Going to her house was a chore... haha.. i came from my workplace... was working on xmas day... and theres a heavy rainfall that day... and the bus stop got flooded.... -_-" .... and i was without an umbrella...

thank god my cousin and aunt came to bring me up to her home.. but den.. they got their feet all wet.... cos there were wearing slippers .... -_-"

December was also Tsian's birthday.... we settled down at First Ubin Seafood (Behind Changi Village bus terminal) for a seafood dinner.... lol... tsian likes seafood... so its definitely some seafood for his birthday....

overall some of the dishes were good.. but i guess it wasnt as good as the other time my family went.... a screwed up order ... sambal hair-por (crayfish) (xia-po)... would have tasted better than butter hair-por...

2011 Resolution

- To open my own retail shop selling bus models by end of the year.
- To lose 20kg in 11 months.

- To save up and have a vacation trip out with friends to Taiwan in Nov/Dec.

Its the last day of 2010. As you would have know I am now working near SMU. The past month has been busy for me, i practically lost 4 kg over the 10 day work week where I had no off... and was temporarily covering duties for my manager who is on leave. Life was tough when she was not around. Workplace politics and third party interferences (tenants, cleaners, customers).... almost had a stabbing incident there. Scared the hell out of me.... -_-"

I really wanna leave the company soon. =X

But what to do, i just cant find a job in the year end. Probably after chinese new year then we shall see. My manager has been treating me well.. though notoriously she has been said to be the most difficult manager in the organisation to be with.

But she's in high spirits of late... waiting to clear all her outstanding leaves and the chance to finally have a nice chinese new year where i would have to work. God knows what will happen to me after cny... probably the same fate as other staff who get shouted at everyday.

Finally had a 3 day off after the well deserved long working month.

Went to City Square Mall with my parents on wednesday... my parents have never been to city square before and wanted to try if it is convenient to travel to JB by 160/170. I would say they are quite ok with a day out in a different shopping centre... and oso the traffic wasnt tat bad tat day... and they managed to get seats on the trip from JB to Singapore so all was good. =)

Yesterday went with Zhenhui to eat la mian xiao long bao at Marina Square. I find that the portion has gotten smaller.... and we werent full after the meal.. had satay and chicken wings at gluttons bay after watching "The tourist"... chicken wing's fantastic... remember that... we remembered that the orh luak sucks... so we didnt order... and the tables around with lots of leftover orh luak proves our theory just right.

Oh yah btw "The tourist" had the nicest twist ending.. which zhenhui and i enjoyed a lot.. the movie overall doesnt have much plot and action... but i would say they have spent lots of effort on a nice perfect ending... middle part could have added some action thrillers so that it would be much nicer...

RATINGS: 7/10

Went to Nex @ Serangoon.... I would say i am quite pleased with the shopping mall... there are loads of new retailers out in the market... lots of apparels/ restaurants / fastfood restaurants that most shopping malls do not have.... Ramen Play by BreadTalk is there.... never heard of expect in my uni project until now....

Feel like going again... today was just a glimpse of the mall... didnt really walk as i was carrying quite a bit of bus stock that i just collected from my supplier. so didnt want to break stuff =)

Kopitiam KK

Had been training for 3 weeks at Kopitiam KK Hospital Outlet.

Today's the last day of work at KK. Somehow or rather, would miss all the colleagues and tenants there.... =) Just as we are getting to know each other well... i am moving on to a new environment. Haix...

Wonder how the new environment would be like. I had been forewarned that 4 persons before me have left the position within the past 6 months after working at that outlet... so the thought of it is rather freakish..... -_-" ...

Working at Kopitiam

Managed to find a job last Monday. Will be working at Kopitiam as Operations Executive, to oversee operations at the food court. =)

6 months finding a job and I had enough. I need a freaking job. Maybe its time to accept fate. With so many FTs in Singapore depressing our wages, its time to stop dreaming of a 2k and above pay. Doesn't pay high for my job but never mind. Just take it as a learning experience.

Job's pretty routine, short working hours a day but 6 days work week. Haix.
My last off day was Hari Raya Haji.... Getting my next off day on coming Saturday.

I aim to be my own boss in the future. It just doesn't work being an employee for life in Singapore with govt policies being so pro-business. Gotta start saving up.

Weeks ago was Peizhen's birthday. Celebrated her birthday at her house. =)

Group Joyride

LOL... Suddenly felt out of place... Like i got nothing better to do all of audden.

Haix. Got rejected by NLB 2 days back. Seriously sucks. Many resumes sent but minimal replies back.

Anyway, I have picked up a new hobby which is to meet up other bus fans for group joyride... used to do it alone.... =)

The first joyride was with Mark and the rest.... Took an ELBO (Service 852) from Bukit Batok to Yishun just before the green seats are gone for refurbishment to blue and purple seats.

Went out for my second joyride yesterday with Kaiwen. Managed to catch SBS997A, Singapore's longest single cabin bus - with 14 rows of seats and also the Hougang Depot Volvos' before they de-register.

Frankly speaking I enjoyed the joyride more than the first, because the timing was perfect..... and there were also lots of photo snapping and most important of all... everyone is meeting up for the first time... so we got to know each other... unlike the first time where most of the older bus fans already know each other.. so you are like more alone as they have already formed a bond earlier on....

‘I don’t know what I’m defending anymore’

Young Singaporeans like Lim Zi Rui are becoming increasingly disillusioned and they’re not afraid to let it show.

The 23-year-old final-year aerospace engineering student was among a 1,000-strong crowd who attended a Ministerial Forum organised on Friday by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Students’ Union.

Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong was the guest-of-honour.

During a dialogue session after SM Goh’s main address, Lim stood up and asked if the Minister was aware that many young people no longer felt a sense of ownership in Singapore.

“When I was younger, I was very proud of being a Singaporean,” said Lim.

“But that was about five, ten years ago. Five years later, with all the changes in policies and the influx of foreign talent, I really don’t know what I’m defending any more.”

He said this was a view that many of the men he served with during National Service also held.

“I feel that there is a dilution of the Singapore spirit in youth… We don’t really feel comfortable in our country any more,” he said.

Mr Goh replied, “‘This is one early sign of danger… If this is happening, it is very serious.” He went on to ask Mr Lim why he felt disconnected.

Mr Lim told SM Goh, ”‘I’m still serving as an officer and I definitely would love to defend Singapore.”

But he said the key difference between him and his foreign friends was, “I tell them, this is my country. I can’t just leave here whenever I want to. You can come and play and work here, but I have to stay here.”

SM Goh responded by defending the government’s policy of welcoming foreigners.

“You want to have a home. Who’s going to build your HDB flat?” said the Minister.

Lim replied that due to the inability to afford the sky-high public housing prices, his brother had to call off his engagement.

“My brother got engaged, but lost his engagement because he could not afford an HDB flat,” said Lim, who went on to state that his question was not about “integrating foreigners”.

“My question was, how are we going to help the younger generation feel a sense of belonging to Singapore? I don’t think it’s about integrating foreigners,” said Lim.

“This is your country,” SM Goh replied. “What do you want me to do to make you feel you belong?”

“For my part, don’t worry about me,” Mr Lim said. “I will definitely do something, if I can, for Singapore. But I can tell you honestly that the sentiment on the ground is a bit different.”

“If this is happening, it is very serious,” said SM Goh.

“If the majority feel they don’t belong here, then we have a fundamental problem. Then I would ask myself: What am I doing here? Why should I be working for people who don’t feel they belong over here?” asked SM Goh.

Earlier on during the dialogue session, the Minister made the point that the next General Elections, due to be held by February 2012, would be a “watershed” for the future of Singapore from which a “fourth Prime Minister and a core team of younger ministers will emerge”.

SM Goh also challenged the young undergrads in his audience to “make a difference to Singapore” by joining local politics.

Marina Bay Sands Outing

Went out with Zen and Tsian last week to Marina Bay Sands... our 1st time there... took 106 from dhoby ghaut mrt.... to its doorstep....

When we reached there, we realised MBS hasnt really fully opened its door yet.... the whole ambience was pretty dark.... i dunno if they are doing energy saving or wad so ever...

Anyway, the boat ride... modelled after other countries' "Venice city boat ride" was seriously a scam.. its like a 5 minute walk to clear the entire waterway.... and i really pity those who take the $5 boat ride... seriously i think in 3 minutes you can complete the ride... and there werent many boats paddling around the waterway... and everybody just looked at you from the cafe seats and also tourists taking pictures of the boat and you... and you really look stupid lor....

The night scenery outside MBS wasnt as spectacular and as scenic as the one I saw while I was walking the Avenue Of Stars in Hong Kong... Singapore's across the bay version wasnt as good.... it wasnt as brightly lighted as those in Hong Kong.... so you cant expect nice and beautiful pitures... The weather was pretty cold that day and it was quite nice having the river breeze.... smell of nature =)

Worst of all in MBS was that apart from a cafe and a food court that looks really run-down like a coffee shop that sells char siew rice at $5 and economical rice at $8, there wasnt any restaurant spotted in the MBS shopping arena... and while we were taking pics at the bayfront.... there was this vietnamese tourist that came and ask us if there was any food available around the area.. and then we told him gluttons bay and pointed at the direction... and we was like -_-" wtf.. so far away...

I guess we really gotta wait one more year before we really go to MBS... apart from the bus services, hotels, convention centre and the casino, i feel much of it isnt really operational yet.

We decided to walk down to Marina Square to have our favourite "Imperial Treasure" la mian xiao long bao.. we ordered 1 tray of xiao long bao per person..hehe.... as usual, we like it much more after our meal =)

WOW... Its been a while since i last blogged... Well, have been too preoccupied with stuff till today...

Selling bus models has been a wonderful business selling experience so far... Sales hits $596 in over 4 months... =)

Watched "The Other Guys" with Zhenhui and Tsianhwee last last Sunday during his birthday celebrations..... Overall the movie was funny and action packed.... enjoyed the movie a lot... =) A few twists and there.... its a story about an old policeman who suddenly decided that he wants to do something big for the community after cooping himself in office for the past 20 years staying in the office doing administrative work.... and he embarks on a very funny and yet adventurous mission...

RATINGS: 7/10

Watched Wall Street a few days back before 10/10..... watched with zhenhui... overall the movie can give you some financial advice (in a way).... but there were too many dialogues in the movie.... and some draggy parts.... if you havent studied a single business related module in school... u probably wouldnt understand anything in the movie....

It was Zhenhui's birthday last last Sunday (1O/1O/1O)! We went to Illuma Bugis to celebrate his birthday..... Had dinner at Asian Kitchen.... food was generally quite good... Cereal Prawns.... Tofu.... Roasted Chicken.... in 2 flavours... =)

Loved their Avocado drink ... had dine at Asian Kitchen years back... theirs is more milk... less avocado... but if you have to let me choosse between Alexandra Hawker Centre (next to alexandra hospital).... i would still choose Alexandra =)

Watched "The Other Guys" after which..... as explained earlier....

Went home via 960's last bus at about 1140pm... Surprisingly the bus was quite empty at night.... so it was nice to go back home via the bus... 1 hour earlier things would have been a lot different with all the banglas and indian workers preparing to go home using 960 from little india...

Dad got a 2 day pass for 3 from his recreation club to go to all places of interest operated by Singapore Tourism Board.... and he took a 2 day leave.... to go out with mum and me to all the places of attraction that are free.... ended up we spent about $150.... taking photos with dolphins.... and tram ride at Night Safari..

In 2 days, we went to Night Safari, Bird Park, Science Centre, Sentosa - Underwater World.... the new Jewel Box (aka Cable Car), the chairlift ride and many more....

Things haven't been going well for me these 2 weeks...

Had been busy, my Gonggong(Mum's dad) passed away on 22 Sept, at the age of 83...

And then dad's hospitalisation last week.... burst-ed another vessel... Thankfully my dad's OK now and resting at home.

Today's 1O/1O/1O. I hope everything will be well and perfect this month.. and for the rest of the year... Lets hope everything will be 十全十美 (Perfect 10).

Taiwan Food Fair @ Clarke Quay The Central

Went to the Taiwan Food Fair @ Clarke Quay The Central ytd.... Went there for dinner.. wanted to try some Taiwan Specialty... About 15 stores there....

Ordered the Orh-jian (Taiwanese Oyster Omelette)... its the one with the longest queue... but kinda disappointing though.

Its a lot different from Singapore's Orh-luak... which is Teochew Style .... Theirs is hokkien style.... with lots of muahchi sticky paste.... eggs... oysters.... beanspourts.. vegetables... with a salty sauce...

Overall I prefer Singapore's version... LOL.... Anyway... it wasnt worth $6... the portion was too small (as seen in pic)... And I think the taste doesnt really tally with the one in Taiwan....

Also tried the Durian-Mango Ice.... i tink it is quite good.. the ice.. and the mango/durian paste.. a combo dessert.... but $5 is quite expensive.. lol....

Also tried their Meatball Tzu.... Er... You can see it .... I have posted it... but basically its filled with sticky sticky gluey like substance.. with not much of meat inside.... the salty braised sauce... with some "san-chen-rou"... I think this is the most worth it must try when u go there bah.... its quite nice and unique... though there wasnt much meat inside... $5 for this dish....

Tried their camollie tea. i tink overall the drink was nice... refreshing.... at the bubble milk tea store.... overall spent $20 for 5 items...

Perhaps you can try it.... but pls plan before you eat... lol.... their coupons are worth $10... so if you happen to spend $11 like me.. you gotta buy one more $10 coupon.... $6 (orh-jian) + $5 (meatball Tzu) + $5 mango durian snowshake + $2 camollie tea + $2 (Pork dumpling 1 piece) = $20

Walked through the decorated lanterns along the heart of Singapore River.... okay... overall there is some ambience of the upcoming mid-autumn festival...

Had a $10 voucher for New York New York... so went in for a lunch alone at Lot 1.... Ordered a $9.80 Sweet and Sour Thai Chicken Rice Set... and ordered an ala-carte Banana Pancake Ice Cream...

The Sweet & Sour Thai Chicken Rice set ok only... for $9.80 i wun order it next time again... lol.... as for the ala-carte banana pancake at $6.80 i might consider eating again... the banana cake was nice... toppled with ice cream....

Overall I paid $9.66 for the meal after $10 voucher... so it wasnt really cheap... got a shock of my life when i got the bill.. expected $5 - $6.. forget there is one thing called 10% service charge and 7% GST.

As for job applications... I am getting sick already... Applied for so many jobs... but everything seems so silent... my handphone record broke its record for the first time.. Total Received 50 minutes... Total Dialled 70 minutes... Total SMS sent: 80.... -_-" Lowered my expectations in the latest walk in interview for Popular job on Saturday... asking salary was $1800-$2000, down $400 from $2200-$2400.

Popular tells me they will get back to me by end of this week.... I hope they do. Positive please.. =)

Long Weekend ... Or was it not?

LOL... The long weekend will be ending soon... Much to many disappointment... Same for me though... Public holidays or not, I am still free.... Unemployed... LOL.... Just that the roads will be filled with lesser people... LOL...

Anyway, these few weeks I have been going out with Zen and Tsian... but no pics.. lol... Last weekend was steamboat dinner at Tiong Bahru .... followed by the movie Grown Ups... =)

This week was a dinner at PS food court.... LOL... Damn... Nowadays PS food court so crowded... looks like everyone is as broke as me... LOL... The Cafe Cartel... which used to have queuing crowds is now one full vessel without queues... LOL... But I know why... The food quality has dropped tremendously... as I ate with my family on Sunday... The food quality has dropped... and the food is getting too oily.... =X
We had tau-hway for supper after the movie Vampires Suck.

Anyway, Saturday was having dinner with family at Aoha Japanese Restaurant...newly opened in IMM.... Oh my.... FOREIGN TALENT order taker again... This time... the staff is JAPANESE!!! Which is quite cool.... the politeness and hospitality culture of Japanese is something that our service quality seriously needs improvement... at least 70% of what Japanese should be. Before every dish is being served.. she will say.... Excuz me.... Bla bla... aka the dish name..

Seriously, if restaurants want to improve their service quality.... pls do not save costs and hire those cheap china prcs or filipinos in a bid to save costs.... filipinos though better and friendlier... sometimes they take very long to complete a request.... -_-" .. should get ang moh or japanese.. =)

The food at Aoha wasnt good, however.... it serves hokkaido ramen.... which has a tendency to have ultra strong soup base.... which i find it too salty.... my brothers find it ok though.

MOVIE REVIEWS

Grown ups is an American comedy.... where you know the jokes can get a little bit more dirty sometimes... Overall, its a nice comedy... with storyplot and all... some bits were funny.... nonetheless, its a nice weekend movie retreat....

RATINGS: 7/10

This movie is a remake of the feminist Twilight movie.... LOL... it appeals more towards the male audiences... with sarcasm and criticism to the Twilight movie... Overall the movie does not have any real plot... but its EXTREMELY FUNNY.... The scenes and all.... Even females enjoyed it.... Its a perfect movie... to cheer u up for the weekend. One funny thing is the half naked scenes in Twilight.... In this movie.... they add in some salt about why there should not be so many half male naked scenes...

Anyway, the amazing thing about this movie is the ability of the producer to find casts that looked almost similar to the cast from Twilight movie.. which i find it quite amazing. =)

Graduation

After much waiting, I finally graduated from RMIT University with a degree certificate! =) It was much awaited. Finally ending years of education since I start school at 3. =)

My parents are of course happy that I have graduated... LOL... No need to worry about my studies liao.

As usual, people ain't happy with where they are.

When you are in school, you cant wait to graduate. I am certain I wont miss school life though, as least for now, except for the friends whom I have met these 2 years in uni. Would certainly miss the fun & laughter we had in lectures.

Probably in years time, I would miss school life when I embark on a full time career.

Now for work, resumes sent every week, sometimes without an egg coming back. 40 - 50 job applications sent, and with only 2 interviews secured, and without a job. Unemployed.

Last Bits of August

Went to the movies on Thursday. Watched The Jade and the Pearl... its a movie made by TVB.... overall the plot was acceptable... a funny romantic comedy featuring Raymond Lam and Twins Ah Sa.... I feel that the movie can be more funnier though... but worth a weekday deal..

Had dinner with family last Sunday.... Uno Steak House @ Toa Payoh Lorong 5... =)
The steak was quite nice... =) $14 though I think.... for coffee shop... LOL...

Got a call from Jesmen and clique last last Sunday... They asked me out to take
photos for them... OMG.... at my house downstairs at 12 am in the morning.... -_-" Posed for a few shots before we head down to Kim San Leng for supper.... nice time meeting up with them... we havent seen each other for months....

The last part was a picture taken during dad's birthday in mid August. The cake was nice.... chocolate hazelnut cake and surprisingly good by prima deli.

Zoo + Outings in August! =)

Went to watch PCK with Zhenhui 2 Saturdays ago. Overall I think the main character actually lost the movie to its supporting character acted by Hui Ge.. Recently, I find that Hui Ge can really act... He's getting better in the movies.. LOL... Overall the movie was entertaining and enjoyable. I give it 8 stars out of 10. =)

We had dinner before that at Bugis.... Chicken Rice.... Overall the chicken rice was quite good.... the rice lose a bit to the one at Far East... but the meat is tender and tastier than the one in Far East.

Met up with Shaun and cliche at Suntec City on a weekday... had Astons for dinner.. the meal was good... cheap with a big nice portion of steak... enjoyed the meal.. anyway.. to be fair...

Suntec City is now like an abandoned shopping centre... its totally empty .. shops close at 8 plus..... the carrefour is close to empty..... the whole shopping centre is like ours....

Had Lunch with Tsianhwee was at Jacks Place.. Fire Steak I think... part of a set lunch...

Also had lunch alone at Dian Xiao Er.... Duck Rice... $18... with a drink... LOL... Ate that thanks to a voucher of $10 that was accumulated earlier...

Went to the Zoo 2 Fridays ago.... went there for a walk... thanks to my brother who has a free zoo ticket but doesnt want to go there.... Went alone... Zoo is like 20 mins away from home... nearer than SIM.. LOL...

Anyway, its a good exercise for me, walked like half a day in the zoo.. lol... Wanted to watch the elephant show... since i havent watched it at its new exhibit (opened like few years back).... Anyway, I like animals.... just that i wun wan them in my house... visiting the zoo is much better to see them... =)

The animals were pretty much alive that day... lol... not like those lazy afternoons or mornings when you see all of them asleep... especially the lionesses... all awake and standing next to each other for me to snap.. lol... too bad i was alone... couldnt take a photo with them.... didnt want to ask others to take... tried "zhibai" but failed...

Found this on youtube... i feel this song is kinda retro but quite nice =)

Went out with Tsian last week... We had duck rice set @ Dian Xiao Er for $12... but kinda regret... cos they have too much sides.. and not much meat... should have ordered a plate of duck... which would probably be about $20 at most... but the meat portion would certainly be a lot more.. We watched Ong Bak after tat....

Dinner was at Cheong Chin Nam.. Al'meen there... frog porridge.. yummy... satisfies my craving... i have this craving like once a few months....

Not forgetting my favourite Astons Meal the day before @ The Cathay.... =) Its only $12.50 total.... $6.50 for the chicken chop .... $3 for the soup.. and $3 for the snapple drink.... =)

Watched a few movies of late.... I would say SALT is the best movie for this year. The story is about a Russian spy who was sent over to USA to spy for the Russians.... And then there is this atmosphere whereby u dunno wad is gonna happen next. Twists and turns.... but its easy to understand. Certainly a very enjoyable movie.... With all that action packed thriller... =)

Watched Berlin 36.... Its about a conspiracy done up by the Germans during Hitler's regime when Germany hosted the 1936 World Olympics... There is this female Jewish high jumper.. and the Germans did not fancy sending her to represent Germany.... so they got a man to crossdress as a woman to represent Germany for the female higher jumper for the olympics.. overall, its quite enjoyable.... it is based on a true story and comes with a reflection on the true people at the end of the story. =) There is much more to this movie... it comes as a gentle reminder and touches the topic on racism and prejudice...

RATINGS: 7.5/10

Watched Ong Bak 3... I would say this is the worst movie in the Ong Bak series... The rest were better... this episode is like they have no story to continue... and they drag the movie thru... for revenue and ticket sales... so its seriously quite sucky.... ong bak didnt fight a lot too...

Wah.. Time flies... In a nick of time.... its August liao.... My life seems to be around aimlessly everyday.... Applied for like 20-30 jobs... only 1 came back to me... the rest did not do any follow-up... sounds real sucky....

Anyway, the 1 that came back to me was the job of HR officer with NIE.... Had the interview last Thursday.... I admit... I didnt do well for the interview.... they asked me to prepare a presentation which I feel I did well... but for the questioning part in the interview part..I would say its not good.... I give it a 50:50... Anyway, they say they will contact me within 2 weeks..... either letter of rejection or a phone call saying I am in for the job...

Ha... its time to prepare for convocation.... which is like the end of the month.... collection of the graduation gown after National day.... ummmm....

Watched Hot Tub Time Machine with Zhenhui last last week.... We had dinner at Aston's @ The Cathay before the movie ..... I love the steak at Aston's... its nice, cooked to perfection and relatively reasonable..... =)

Hot Tub Time Machine is about a group of guys who drank and accidentally travel back on time to 1986.... I would say the movie is quite funny... and zen and i enjoyed it a lot.... =) Good humour.... though their jokes and get a bit dirty... lol... =)

Met Shaun on saturday.... we went to marina square to catch Old Cow Vs Tender Grass. i would say this movie is all about local flavour... and it touches your heart.... the movie is funny bits and there... but overall i am impressed with Hui-ge.. he acted quite well in the movie.. lol.. better than that Mark Lee... tat poked face... -_-" nowadays getting too arrogant on Tv liao....

Anyway, I loved Nat Ho's character... hes called Jun Hui... my brother's name... and the funniest part was Nat Ho's "ling wei" which says Lee Jun Hui... which is my brother's full name..... quite funny. and when the movie ended....there was this brother laughing at his younger brother.. u died... i presume he has the full exact same name... lol... Anyway, I wished Nat Ho would have had more scenes.. and the love story between the tender grass could have been more elaborate though... =)

Before the movie was dinner at Imperial Treasure.. ate my fav. xiaolongbao... i admit its the best in singapore.... plus the suan la la mian... =) Yummy.. xiaolongbao is a must must.. LOL.... =)

We headed for supper at Gluttons Bay later on... had chicken wings... satay and orh luak... and OF COURSE teh cino.. which is quite nice... and oh no.. they replaced the indian staff with prc... -_-" always prefer ah neh to do the teh tarik pouring..they look more professional... LOL... too bad i 4get to take pics of the rest, apart from the satay!!! The orh luak wasnt tat nice..

Lunch was with my family at Jurong Point, Yakiyakibo.... It was a nice teppanyaki lunch.... i ordered the beef set.. my bro ordered the seafood chicken set... Overall, nice and price is reasonable.... =) The fried banana fritter with vanilla ice cream was special..... =) they used bread to fry the banana.... =)

Had lunch with family on the first week of July... we went to Yew Tee Point for lunch... =) We were out the whole day.... lunch was at Shin Tokyo at Yew Tee Point... before my dad drove us to Kranji and then Bukit Batok.... for my brother's furniture... my dad even drove me to Yishun later in the evening....

Met Zhenhui and Tsianhwee at Northpoint... Dinner was at BBQ chicken... which offers $8 set meals.... on weekends... a nice chicken set meal with a good sauce and 2 drinks each.... =)

Watched Toy Story 3... the story was nice.. I simply love cartoons... quite touching and funny at the same time... Enjoyed it! =)

Was about to reach home when my mum called me to tell me my daddy is in the A&E of Tan Tock Seng Hospital.... Took a Chrysler cab with mum to the hospital... cant imagine my first Chrysler cab ride was to the hospital... haix... cant really enjoyed it when somebody is in the emergency department....

Cant really imagine my daddy could be out the whole day... whole morning and afternoon, out in the hot sun... driving hundreds of kilometres and he is in the hospital's A&E at night, huh?

The aftermath was a terrible nightmare... which i had said before.. in and out of hospital for the past weeks...

Had lunch with family the weekend after my dad was discharged... a lunch at Ichiban Sushi.. ordered this niku beef set... i feel its one of the better deals offered by Ichiban. The meal was appetizing... and i love the tofu soaked with the beef sauce =)

Surprisingly that Saturday, I also ordered a beef cheese rice at EighteenCafes @ Tiong Bahru Plaza for my outing with Shaun... lol... the meal was good... cheap at less than $10 and comes with a lemon tea! =) Support the YELLOW RIBBON MANN!!! It was opened by an ex-convict and hires ex-convicts too! Service was there.... =)

We watched Despicable Me.... I love the movie... yeah... call me childish... but i prefer childish movies.... its easy to understand.... and its more entertaining... what we need is a nice humour at the end of the week... =)

Driving..... AMK / Old Airport Road / Jurong Point / IKEA Alexandra (12 Jul - 18 Jul)

LOL.... Been driving for the past few days.... Dad's been resting at home and I have the car to share with my brother, for the past 3 weeks....

I guess he will need about 2 more weeks before he can fully recover... He's waiting for the nose hole to slowly conceal by itself.. May he recover soon.... =)

One thing I observe on the roads these few days... Singapore's getting too dangerous to drive.. compared with a year ago... there are like so many cars on the roads... i thank myself for living in Bukit Panjang, where the roads are broad with not much cars... Had a horrible experience in AMK and Geylang at about 5 plus in the evening ytd... there were so many cars... u seriously cant change lanes... Nobody's giving you way in Singapore.... you gotta be ruthless... -_-"

One thing bad about Singaporean drivers.... Most fail to signal when they switch lanes... so u gotta beware... There are also many stupid cyclists and pedestrians who tink they will be compensated if you knock them down.... they just cycle across a 4 way junction when the traffic lights are RED!!! -_-" ...

One good advice I can give is... NEVER BUY AND RIDE A MOTORCYCLE in Singapore. There are simply too many cars in Singapore... and the lights on the motorbikes are usually too small to be seen in the side mirrors at night... Many drivers also cant see you when they change lanes... until the very last few seconds..... If you wanna ride a bike... its best you have a car first.. experience how driving is like... and understand better before you can really ride a bike.... know where are the blindspots that cant been seen by car owners...-_-"

Went to AMK with tsian to watch the movie.... Inception... Overall, the story was fast moving.... but extremely confusing with too many irritating and complicated scenes... budget spent for the movie was high... but basically there wasnt much plot... its about dreaming in a dream.... and the many confusing levels are going into a dream when you are in a dream... the hijacking of the rich man's son doesnt make any sense at all... and i seriously wonder wad the story is about... -_-"

RATINGS: 5/10 (5 for the scenery... 0 for the plot)

Drove over to have dinner cum supper at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre.. only knows this stall selling Wanton Mee.... #01-02 is the nice.... the wanton is good... and the noodles darn Q.... except the lady boss is always fuming mad... lol... Hua Kee i tink.... pink colour signboard... We ordered stingray, orh luak and satay too...

The orh luak and satay was good... on the above average side.... but the stingray looks appetizing... but doesnt taste as good as it is... the stingray sambal chilli is sour and not hot enough... my grandma's chilli is better! LOL.... Name of stall... Long House Seafood.. dun order from there... =) spoils ur meal... we were kinda full and i only had a few bites of the stingray....

Yes I know we ordered too much for 2 persons.. LOL... but the stingray really spoils the meal.... shouldnt have wasted $11 on it! LOL...

Had lunch with my brother today at Jurong Point... Went to Meni-chi for ramen noodles.... I frankly tell you i like their pork belly... went there for that... the chilli tontusuku pork ramen wasnt as nice.... lots of gravy.. typical japanese style... but really didnt like it as it wasnt hot or hiam enough....

My brother ordered the cheese ramen pork ramen... didnt ask him how it tasted... but i guess its gg to be very filling... cos he ate slower den me... when he usually does it faster den me.. lol...

Had lunch at IKEA Alexandra the other day... accompanied my brother to buy a new cupboard... had early dinner... lol... fried chicken meal... @ $6 including drinks.... as we had spent over a $1000 at IKEA and was given 2 years free membership.... which comes with 20 free drinks... and discount on their set meals.. lol.. the fried chicken was too salty.. lol...

Had been a terrifying and sleepless week for me last week... daddy's in and out of hospital... dialed 995 like twice in 3 days before they finally admit him into hospital.... turns out that he broke one of his blood vessels near his nose... tat caused the bleeding... and doctors have managed to mend it.... Daddy's doing good now.. resting at home...

And now i am down with a flu myself..... getting better now... but i guess i should be blogging a full post sometime by end of this week.

Introducing my latest additions.... 3 SBS Volvo Double Deckers.... the yellow bus is a replica of SBS7204J.... which has been sold over to the UK First Bus... Its a replica of Singapore's last non-air con DD...

The 2 others you know lah... the livery you see everyday on the roads... bought the SBS Twin Pack at $120.. had always wanted to collect the set... since secondary school... finally got it! =) The First Bus collection was cheaper... bought it at a bargain online at about $30....

LOL... Its been close to two months since my exams last ended... and I have been leading a life just like a retiree!

LOL... Everyday's routine is like waking up at 11am.. going out for a nice lunch.. and den leaving home for a afternoon walk..... LOL... and then back home for dinner.. Sounds cool huh???? And then watching TV at night... and then surfing net from 11pm - 2am and then back to sleep... and a 9 hrs sleep and the same old thing happens...

OH NO.... I am 24 and I am living a life of a retiree. Fear not. I am not obsessed with working and working for more money like I used to do. OH MIND! What a change! Perhaps NS has made me realise, money isnt about everything.. Having a relaxed life is just what I want? LOL...

Anyway, believe it or not, after graduating.. it seems like one has gone into the next stage of life.. which is unemployed.. imagine filling up UNEMPLOYED for lucky draws??? Sounds rather cool...

And its best.. to fill up as unemployed.... nobody will call you up and buy insurance or invest in new bonds.... which i apparently havent been receiving recently... Except for the Singapore Casket... and a property management seminar from a Filipino... and today a china woman scam.... asking if i was interested to pay attention to her a few minutes... probably i won a few million dollars again and she needs me to send her a cheque to process my winnings to my account....

Met tim last sunday together with shaun and all... had lunch at Han's Park Mall.. The meal was pretty justifiable.. The steak portion was extremely big... and comes with a soup... and a drink.. costed like $15... but its restaurant style.. they serve u... the steak was just nice... though not premium.. but its enuff for me... =)

They have cheaper items though.. i happened to order the most expensive set... Steak costs a lot more in Singapore than other meats.... lol... shaun and kenneth ordered the hainanese pork chop wich apparantly looks quite good too... at less than $10 a set... =)

We then went over to selegie to chill dou jiang you tiao.. and then went over for a game of counterstrike and left for dead 2? . wah.. my 1st time... i keep dying and losing... anyway, once in a while.. its ok to cross the boundary.. lol... surprisingly its $4 for 2 hrs of game! So cheap huh?

Anyway, had lunch at Soup Spoon, Raffles City that week. My first time there... had always wanted to try as i walked passed... ordered the beef soup.... didnt really like the beef soup... taste weird.. -_-" ... i guess a chicken cream soup would suit me better... =)

Met up with Tsian this Wednesday... we had a late lunch at VivoCity... I am starting to love Kim Gary liao... =) They have a variety of different interesting food items.. and lots of menu....

Ordered their korean ramen... tasted OK bah.... a 7/10.. i like the sunnysideup.. =) the beef meat was nice.... and the soup was unique.. =) The yuanyang was OK.... the bread was presentable... good to eat.... nice honey syrup! =)

We then went over to catch the movie... sex and the city 2.... not much of sex scenes... suggestive sex messages kept coming out though... unlike sex and the city 1 where there were many sex scenes.. but not much implied sex messages... overall the movie was funny.... and we can see some scenery of abu dhabi abu dhabi.... which is quite good... its quite nice somehow... and its great to watch it for couples... =)

Dinner with Tsian was char kway teow and char kway at Seah Im food centre... this whole table of food costs $6! =) Its cheap... and good to eat! =) Definitely worth the value! $2 per plate! =)

Last was supper at Lot 1 with Tsian... ordered our favourite... "Dun Dan"... Boiled Milk and Boiled Egg... =) Its a nice Macaunese dessert... cold and hot... both available.... with ginger or no ginger.. Available in Singapore too... Best one is at New Bridge Road though.... the dessert shophouse next to Lucky Chinatown =)

Realised I havent been blogging of late.... Really beri paiseh abt this... haix.... actually i have been so bored these few days..... juz dun feel like blogging.... laptop's spoilt for a month by now.....have to use the main desktop in the living room.. juz lost appetite for blogging... kinda.. lol....

Anyway, its the world cup season.... i see heat everywhere.... everyone's busy betting.... like singapore's a betting country.. lol... have to queue 30 mins to bet at choa chu kang singapore pools today...... at 7pm somemore... lol.... yesterday saw a girlfriend asking her bf.... i got $100... bet which one! u choose for me... lol....

Went out with Tsian today..... went for lunch.. oh mind.. seriously... xin Char Chan Teng, operated by Banquet holdings... suck! They have this outlet just outside Jurong Point.. having a promotion of 50% for all its dim sum during lunch.... and it sucks big thumb.... the dim sum wasnt nice at all.... they look ok.. but the skin of the har kau and the deep fried prawn coin bag sucks.... the xiaolongbao was ok....

Service wise was bad... as in management style... YOU MUST BUY DRINKS from them.... and the cheapest drink costs $2.50 (mineral water)..... -_-" .... worst still.. they insist i pay $2.50 for the mineral water when i requested for plain water after eating all their dry and oily dimsum....zzz..... pls leh.. i bought a mango milkshake liao... no need so stingy rite.... not as if i didnt order any drink.... had to buy a drink at Sweetalk after which...

The whole meal costed us $14. Tsian didnt finish his rice... which only has 3 main ingredients... cheese, chicken and rice... -_-" .... he couldnt finish it because the taste is just too bland to eat too many mouthfuls....

The mango milkshake was terrible. Didnt quench my thirst... made me more thirsty instead! Not much smell of mango.. lots of pulp... -_-"

Seriously, for the meal... EPIC FAIL! 4.5 / 10....

Watched Karate Kid after tat at jurong point.... the movie was pretty long... some parts are funny.. but i feel the atmosphere wasnt too much there... jackie chan's last movie as a spy agent was better... more funny... this one he doesnt really fight... the black child was good in his moves.. look cool... but overall... i could not get the gist of the movie... what are they sparring... chinese kungfu... japanese karate or just street fighting?????

Went out with Weida last week.... havent met him for like half a year already.. =) He celebrated my belated birthday.. wow... so long yeah? Anyway, we had a dinner at Jacks Place... ordered the Mixed Grill combo with set meal and includes a chicken soup and a mango dessert.... the mango dessert looks nice.. but doesnt taste as good... the crust is just too hard to bite off... overall the meal was good.. =)

Catch the movie, A Nightmare at Elm Street after which.. seriously speaking... i hate to watch horror movies.. haha.. cos always lame endings and stories without much plot... this was pretty interesting... horror with some anticipation going on throughout the movie.... i give it 7/10. =)

Went out with Shaun and Kenneth last week too.. we went to Kim Gary Char Chan Teng @ VivoCity .... had always wanted to visit them.. but always put off by the long weekend queues.. finally had a chance to enter it without queueing up... cos its a weekday at 6pm....

Shaun and Kenneth ordered a set meal... which actually had almost the same items i ordered ala-carte... just that my drink was a little bit different from theirs... and the utensils and cutlery were different... should have ordered the set meal.. save me like $6... lol.... cheese beef baked rice for me.... =) mine was with curry... theirs was without..

The curry baked rice doesnt look appetizing at all.. but it taste pretty good... =) The mango milkshake was extermely appetizing and good! =)

We later went over to chill at Earle Swensens.... ordered my fav sticky chewy chocolate and a softee yogurt ice cream... =)

LOL... received my results on Thursday... Passed everything.... Finally out of school... but going to the next stage of life, which is RETIREMENT! LOL...

Yeah.... On a holiday mood right now.... Probably for this weekend. Have to start editing my resume next week before I send them out. Anyway, kinda sucks.... The weather is freaking hot these few days.... Kinda giddy now after a morning out eating Kway Chap at Toa Payoh and joyriding bus...

Den joyriding Non-aircon buses... Haha... love the breeze when it moves... but not when the bus stops at the traffic junction. Thats when the heat starts to kill you off.. lol...

Went out with Tsian on Monday to watch Ip Man 2 at PS.... Overall the movie was quite good.... a lot of kungfu fighting and kicking by Donnie Yen... action packed thrilled and all.... storyplot was interesting..... =)
Had ajisen for lunch b4 tat....

We then headed down to the expo... which is freaking far... lol... we went there for the food exhibition... and also visited popular and john little fair....

We chose to go home by bus... lol.... travelling on the double decker all the way from Expo to New Bridge Road Terminal via bus 12 ... and then taking 190 all the way... took us like 30 mins more.. but it was more worth it.... den being cramped and squeezed on the MRT! LOL.... I prefer double deckers... anyway, there was practically nobody at the time .... as it was headed for the city at about 9 plus...
So we took a chance to take pictures on the bus! LOL...

Tuesday outing was with Shaun How.... lol... to watch Prince Of Persia.. as usual... he is late by 30 mins.... -_-" ... when can this person ever be early... had lunch .... before we watched the movie... the movie was good too.... a 2 hr long movie.... but it is quite an imaginative story that kinda amazes me.... cos i dun really fancy such movies... lol... not my type.. but then i managed to keep my eyes watching on the movie... the background of the movie was good... sceneries and all... coupled with good sound system and good plot... Overall i enjoyed it....

Last saturday went out with family for lunch at lot 1.... went to this eatery called Jalapeno's Peppers at the basement.... They have set meals going around $8.... comes with soup and ice cream.... and a pasta... tink its pretty worth it! =)

The food serving was also quite a lot... better than those food court stalls where they give no quality and no quantity food.... =) The food was also quite nice... look forward to dining with them soon....

The apple crumble with ice cream was nice! =) Hot and crispy!...

Watched Shrek Forever After with Tsian in the evening at Marina Square.... the movie was kinda short... but cartoons being cartoons... always shorter cos of the production and drawings needed to get the storyline done... anyways, its a nice short funny movie that keeps me laughing through the 1.25 hrs... =)

Went to eat La Mian Xiao Long Bao at Marina Square in the evening with Tsian after the movie..... like to eat xiao long bao lover... i would say imperial treasure's xiao long bao is the best in Singapore... always liked to order one tray for myself! LOL... =)

Lately, Singapore's security just bothers me.. it seems like this is a week of constant unrest...

Robberies here and there... with weapons somemore... oh no... when is this going to stop.... kinda scary.. =X

Anyway, heres an update on buses.... China Made Fuel Cell bus will be coming to Singapore on service for the upcoming YOG Games..... a tie up apparantly with NTU and China's bus company.... Here's how the bus would look like... the bus looks weird... lol...

On my birthday itself, I went to Secret Recipe IMM to buy a strawberry chocolate cake... =) Haha... I buy cake because I always want to get the cake of my choice! LOL... Its my birthday YOU KNOW YOU KNOW!

Cut cake at night lor.. celebrate with family... =) Oh no... I am 24 liao... Overall, the cake wasnt much to my liking.. though i chose the cake.. HAHA... didnt really like the taste... taste a bit weird.... LOL.... Maybe I should have chosen other flavours....

Birthday @ Ellenborough Market Cafe

Went to Ellenborough Market Cafe @ Swissotel Merchant Court with Tsian and Zen to celebrate my belated birthday yesterday.... =) It was belated as Tsian has just finished his exams... lol...

The hotel's design and infrastructure design damn nice.... Gives u a very nice feeling as you walk in... But the interior was kinda dark.. wondered why. LOL....

Anyway, the buffet section looks kinda small.... but theres actually a lot of food.... LOL.... And they have sub sections..... which we later found out.. lol....

The buffet has got crayfish, oysters, fish and all.... Its more towards the Peranakan food cuisine.... But I would say the best part of the buffet was the desserts section.. They had a wide variety of nice Peranakan desserts, ranging from Durian Pengat, Kueh Lapis, Pulut Hitam.... to Bread and Butter pudding and the likes.

The Durian Pengat is the main attraction and a must eat when you visit this cafe.. Its their signature dish.. True enough... its extremely tasty!!! YUMMY YUMMY! =) And I had 2 big full servings of it... damn nice.. its made of high quality durian... maybe mao shan wang or D24... lol... =)

By the looks of us, you would probably know how delicious it is liao... LOL... Nice rite? I give their durian pengat 10/10.... lol... as for the pulut hitam (red bean dessert with coconut milk) i find it kinda sweet... my mum's one is nicer...

The way to eat would probably to put the durian pengat in your tongue... den slowly let it melt on your tongue while you savour the taste of it.... DAMN DELICIOUS! =)
The penang kway teow was piping hot and nice... the rest of the dishes were also above average.... didnt eat the oysters cos it was raw...

I would say the service was impressive. I feel they actually have a waiter stationed to serve a few tables. Its like damn fast. They keep clearing your tables. But sometimes can be a little bit irritating. cos the moment you stop eating and start to talk, they will ask... can i clear? LOL... But overall it was quite good... they kept refilling us with water... LOL.... The only thing is that the toilet is very far away from the restaurant... there's no toilet inside the restaurant....

But overall I may look forward to visiting them sometime soon... when i have a craving for durian... LOL... =)

I would say this outlet's portion is very much less as compared to the one in Marina..... its a lot a lot lesser.... used to be very full when I eat at Waraku... this is the outlet where u wun feel full after u finish eating...

The butter scallop was kind of disappointing too... not as hot and chewy as the ones i had in Marina... didnt like the noodles i eat.... lol... perhaps udon suits me better....

Next time I go to Waraku... I would go to the one in Marina =)

We went over to catch a movie after which. Watched Robin Hood with Peng after the movie.... =) The movie's storyplot was so-so.... Wasnt the storyline I expect.... Robin Hood's life before he become a robber.... the royalty was kinda weird... british royalty... but they used Arabian lookalike actor/actresses for the royalty. They dress a little bit Turkish. Which is kinda weird.Peng says it kinda easy to guess what is going to happen next. not much surprises to expect.... =X Give it 5.5/10. Its ok to give it a miss.

Went out with Kenneth and Shaun to eat Lai Lai La Mian @ Jurong Point last week! =)

We went there because they have this promotion set meal ... which includes a pork meat noodles.... a beef stew soup with loads of beef meat inside and also one full plate of tofu... all for only $9.90++... and you can order their milk tea or cooling freeze at $0.99++ each..... available from 2-5pm... weekdays! =)

Had a nice time chit-chatting there! =) Kenneth also ordered their promotional
egg with pork floss biscuit (dan song bing)... for about $6... which includes a coffee!

Pretty cool offer.. especially the drinks... They were bloody hell nice to drink lah... and cheap... cheaper than SWEETTALK LAH! Sweettalk is crap... full of chemicals... lol... this one has got more tea... lol =)

Went to EbisBoshi ShoTenGai @ Illuma Bugis last week! Went with yim and wendy .... Wow.. This restaurant is so cool okay... You use a tip pen to select what you want to order... without the need for a waiter to take down the order.... lol... TIP TAP TIP TAP... lol... fun leh! =) Wish more restaurants can be this fun...

Ordered their teriyaki chicken udon... oh no....i find it too sour... oh no.... but the overall taste would be better if i had mixed properly... the chicken was sweet... sweet sour i would say? Wendy ordered the ebi set.... and yim ordered the katsu curry don... i also ordered an extra strawberry cake to fill up for dinner...

The udon i ordered wasnt tat good... but probably i chose the wrong item to eat from the menu... look forward to eating it soon... as i see they have loads of items to choose from in their menus...

We later headed down to boat quay to MINDS cafe... where we sat down to play games... lol... board games... lol... wah... didnt know there would be so many patrons lor.... costs about $17 per person.. free flow of drinks and tidbits... and a table to play games...

Had a nice time bonding there.. playing games like Luck of the draw... a pictorial game... where u draw a card from a deck of cards... and then draw pictures to see how fast your friends can get by what you are drawing... followed by Pass The Bomb.. where you are given words like FU & ING and asked to form words.... front and back.... and a bomb starts tickling... the one who got bombed gets the card and the lose is the one with the most number of cards... kinda interesting because the bomb goes "BOOOMMMMZZ""...

Last but not least was Monopoly....Yim's darn lucky.... kept passing by the same spaces and building houses and hotels.... and she ended up eating wendy and me up... OMG.... zzz... while we went bankrupt.. she went on to become a ruthless landlord... collecting so much rent from us.... for once it went like $9,000 .... -_-" cos she got so many hotels and houses to eat us all up.... and we were collecting like $500 from her...

Day 1: Singapore Changi Airport / Guangzhou Baiyun Airport

The first day to Guilin was horrible. First thing in the morning, woke up at 530am... Left home at 6am.. Reach airport at 630am.... Flight was 820am.... Singapore Airlines to Guangzhou Airport.. but the flight was delayed to depart at 850am as the aircraft break down... they towed away the aeroplane... and brought a replacement plane in... =X

Left Singapore at 9am... Reached Guangzhou at about 1pm.... Ate lunch.... Walked around the airport...

Damn .. In China.... Everything is about $$$ .... The airport has boogie cars all over the airport... for a 5 mins ride.... RMB30 (SIN$6.20) per trip to get you around the airport... Ridiculous.. so ex lah....

And they are selling fruits all over the airport... OMG.. Like wet market... Lucky never sell pork...

Transit at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport... on Transit for China Southern Airlines for Guilin Domestic Airport at 530pm.. Stayed in the airport for 4.5 hrs.. Boarded the plane... only to have the flight delayed by 2 hours due to heavy rain.. after we boarded the plane... which is like... WTH... 1 hr flight.. supposed to depart at 530pm.. departed at 730pm instead..

Stranded on the plane itself... Cos the boarding gates have already closed and the plane exits all locked up... Trapped inside the plane for 2 hours... and doing nothing.... HORRIBLE... Zzz.... =X .... A 1 hr flight turned out to be a 3 hr nightmare for us... Zzz... The plane.. originally only to give us biscuits and a packet of mineral water.. ended up serving us dinner on the plane...

Reached Guilin at about 830pm..... Reached hotel after 40 mins ride to Guilin City from Guilin airport... SLEEP... 1st day ends like this...

So practically... the whole day.. from 530am to 930pm (16 hours) is spent on travelling...

Day 2: Guilin

The next day we visited two small caves.. Nothing much... can give them a miss... Anyway, Guilin's landscape is pretty much destroyed by its urban development... Houses everywhere... destroying nature landscape....

The two pagoda houses nothing much... Slightly shorter than Singapore's Chinese Garden..... Can give it a miss too.... Probably you can go to Chinese Garden to snap a picture or two when you are free.... the only thing nicer about them is that the pond water is cleaner and clearer than the ones in Singapore bah... and they have lightings at night...

Whole day wasted after which..... Persuading you to buy Chinese Medicine.. THE PUSHING METHOD... effectively used to deal with your stupid parents.... not effectively on those aged 40 and below...

BEWARE WHEN YOUR PARENTS GO... While they save and scrimp like beggars in Singapore, they spent like stupid naughty teenagers when they reach China.... So remember to convince them that they would be fools if they buy those heavily marked up products the day before they visit those tourist shops first that they would be stupid to buy them the night before they go to such places... =) so that they wun spend the next day.... HAHA.. And if possible... have a family meeting on how to handle such problematic money issues... how to avoid falling into their traps..

Anyway, this "doctor" was trying to get a lot of information about my weight... and wanted to "pa mai"... if under normal circumstances.. they will manage to persuade you to give out some info... so they can elaborate.. and force you to buy Chinese Medicine.... This is what you can do to save RMB400 (SIN$80)

They have ways to do it... first is... give you a free massage at a massage chair.. den start giving you a lecture.... saying all about health and all.... den... a doctor will come to each family and choose a family member to prescribe.... and pa mai... and last but not least... force you without any reason to appeal to buy the chinese medicine... tata... done... you may leave.... but there goes your money!

WHAT I DID THERE:

Doctor asks mum: Since when you child has been overweight?
Mum: Like that.

Reason being... my parents have been immune against being tricked to buy such chinese products already... lol.. tricked a few times before and my brothers have called our parents stupid stupid so many times... they now also know... how to avoid being stupid... be stupid to the doctor 1st! =)

Den he say the liver a bit of problem, but overall good.. lol.... NOTHING TO BUY... NOTHING TO SAY...

Under normal circumstances... say too much = buy a lot... cos they will say you are going to die... your liver is gg to die.. without medicine you are going to die... they will ensure you buy...

I jitao give him a.... "PLEASE FUCK OFF" FACE.... dun look at him... show him black face... and we saved RMB400 (SIN$80) ... the two other elderly couple... got ripped off RMB800 in total for saying too much...

TIP 1: NEVER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR MEDICAL CONDITION.

2nd stop was to visit their Kitchen Set Shop.. a shop that is aimed at ripping you off again after demonstrating you how they cut apples.. lol.... And stupid... they introduce us a sccisors made in china that you can buy for SGD$1 here.. and they sell you at SGD$8.. as usual...

TIP in china is.... avoid saying anything... look for the nearest exit and toilet immediately after the demonstration.... as you are in a tour group.. they have their means to force you to sit there to listen to their demonstration.. but you can go to the toilet after tat!!!

In China, of course they drink Chinese Tea.... So they will CONFIRM bring you to teahouse and start ripping you off about RMB200 (SGD $40) at least on stupid tealeaves that you bring back home to rot and eventually dump it into the dustbin after 2 years...

TIP 1: Sleep during the demonstration and talk. Dun feel ashame... Just SLEEP!
TIP 2: Go to the toilet. Check out from the staff where is the toilet after the demonstration and hide there until other tourists have been ripped off....
TIP 3: Say you like Coffee.... Tea Sucks... and you have a lot at home... Say Last time my mummy buy a lot in China.... Now dunno which one to drink oso.. last month I go Yunnan buy now havent drink yet.... If they ask wich tea.. say dunno.... beri disgusting to drink... today your tea oso beri sucky... wan puke...

Tata... and with all those tips... my parents managed to save about RMB800 (SGD$160) from those 3 shops.... which is a normal spending your parents will spend if they are Mandarin speaking... Try it... Your parents confirm dumb enuff to get ripped off de.... =)

In Singapore, Mummy Daddy nag you for buying a $200 PSP.
In China, you nag your parents for buying $200 worth of Chinese Medicine, Chinese Tea and China Cutlery. =)

Anyway, lets do a small test.... I was standing on the street... and they have motorbikes and scooters travelling on the pavement.. ladies especially, beware... one sided shoulder bags are a no-no in China... You will get robbed within 30 mins in big cities... 10 mins in small counties.... 3 mins near hotels / railways stations... If you need a bag, make sure they sling around you neck... so its harder for them to target on you. Best still, dun bring a bag.. wear jeans with deep pockets.. and put your valuables all inside the pockets... so tat it is harder to rob you..... Never travel alone in China. Death Awaits you.... Die within 3 days... by armed robbery. Never wear jewellery when in China.

In China, always bring 2-3 rolls of toilet papers if you are a heavy user. Hotels only provide you with toilet papers that can last half a day.. twin person sharing room will not have enuff toilet paper... and it is chargeable at about RMB5 (SGD$1) per roll if you ask for more.

At night, watched Dreamlike Lijiang.. its a show... tat prohibits photography.. basicially Chinese acrobatics... stuns and all.... ok lah.. climax is there.. overall enjoyable.... but seats are like those of the 80s... which wasnt too comfortable... =)

Day 3: Yangshuo

Walked around Guilin City the next day... Their gardens... then headed down to Silk Speciality Shop.. as usual... pull you to buy silk... and it doesnt come cheap....

Headed down to Yangshuo at night.. Visited their Western Street... its like Chinatown in Ang moh country... since china.. so ang moh town lor... haha...

The street is slightly safer owing to the fact that they have 3 police cars stationed on the streets.. waiting to make arrest anytime...

Then watched Ying Xiang Liu Shan Jie at night.. at Yangshuo... directed by lee an... but not too impressive... a long break in between the live show of 500 performers... a sudden stop.. usually china live big shows... are continuous without stoppings....

Heres an experience..... Drop your wallet and your wallet will be snatched within 5 seconds... In China, everything is about being faster, better and cheaper! =)

TIP 1: Always assume you yourself are a thief. How are you going to steal others. Applies to yourself. Check.. Am I flaunting my wealth too much? Are my pockets properly zipped? Are you my pockets deep enough? Am I walking around with my camera swinging along my hands?

Day 4: Yangshuo

The next day took a boat ride to admire YangShuo County.... Its mountains.. and all..

Den we headed further down Silver Limestone Cave, where we saw some nice limestones.. =) I feel its one of the better parts of the trip. =) Some of the limestones were nice.. thanks to the lightings.... =) blue, purple... etc... but i feel those limestones werent wet, in contrary to those in Australia... probably they wun be forming new ones anytime soon... theirs is hard and solid.. without much water evaporating out from the stones..

We headed down and watched fish eagles catching fish on one of the rivers of Yangshuo... Its a pretty cool eagle... being used by fishermen of the past to catch fish, due to the ability of the eagle to catch fish at a very fast rate, and having its throat tied up to prevent the eagle from gobbling the fish after its catch. In the west, probably called as animal abuse... maybe animal activists will come knowing on their doors soon... lol... But anyway, its more for us to view as tourists.. they dun seem to use this way to catch fish these days.

Day 5: Detian Waterfalls (China & Vietnam Border)

The next day we went to Detian Waterfalls.....

Had lunch before tat... as it is close to the Vietnamese border... most of the Chinese food have gone "vietnamese".... The dish includes vegetable wrapped with salty pork.. ultra salty but quite unique... and a few others like the vietnamese spring roll... =)

OH yea... and thats the disgusting cold Chinese Chicken dish... available on almost every meal when you visit China..... ITS COLD! And the chickens that you eat here are mostly kampong chicken.... malnutrition.... no meat big bones.... lol... but an old couple say its healthier chicken... not like those in singapore where its injected with chemicals to make it fat... lol..

I feel its the best scenery for the entire trip bah.... As you can see there are two falls.. the smaller one belongs to Vietnam.. the bigger one belongs to China....

There is a muddy path that you can walk to Vietnam from China.... And a market where the Chinese and Vietnamese cross over to buy each other's products....

And there is no wired fencing to deter them from walking across the borders.. and as you can see some Vietnamese staying on the other side with improvished housing..

We also took a raft ride down the river.... to see the waterfall.. I believe this is the best season to go... cos the waterfall is as its biggest.. no waterfall in winter.... cos the water would have turned into ice... =)

Even the tour guide who brought us there took a picture of herself there! LOL... Probably she has never seen the waterfall this big and nice before bah...

Anyway,... WELCOW YOU! LOL.... I am not a cow mann..

Day 6: Youyi Guan / Halong

The next day was lunch near the Vietnam Border in China..... Den we walked around their wet market for a while.... The tour guide went there to buy mangosteens.. from vietnam.... apparantly cheaper than Guilin... as shes from Guilin... But its not cheap actually ... RMB50 for 1kg..... SGD $10 per kg.. but you can squat down and choose the mangosteens 1 by 1....

Den we went to Youyiguan... or friendship customs..... Seriously the customs is like shit... up hill down hill.... all the way.... we paid RMB14 (SGD $2.80) to take the buggy ride.... if not it will be about half an hours walk across the border...

Vietnamese border.. darn horrible... NO LAW... the moment we reached there the tour guide took our passports... and ask us if we wanted to visit the toilet... as they need about 30 mins to chop the passport.... He went in to the office to get our stamps chopped.. i believe there is some bribery involved to get the passports chopped faster...

Chinese tourists need to pay about RMB100 (SGD $20) to get across the border... or be refused entry.... they have a medical health check counter where the customs officer charges them the amount to get into Vietnam.... Or you can bribe them with a cigarette..i believe thats the china tour guide... lol....

The toilet is RMB1 .. or SGD $0.20.... lol... smaller doors... thinner and slimmer... typical Vietnamese Style... Took the coach.. and saw the driver quarreling over the price to get out of the car park. 1st impression of Vietnam.... wah ... FAIL....

Den we travelled the whole afternoon.... den had dinner.. walked around Halong Beach and some pasar malam over there... End of Day 6.

Day 7A: Halong Bay

The next day we went to Halong Bay.... Took a junk ride to a cave first.... saw some limestones... Nothing much.. The steps were steep and much smaller than the ones in China.. and werent as beautiful... and pretty hot inside....

Weather was bad.... So photo quality wasnt tat great... Water was greenish... but doesnt turn up well on the photos... Overall, the weather was on off.. so we managed to see bits of good weather with clear sky and green water.. while at times there was heavy rain..

Expected the destination to be the best of the trip.. but overall.. ok only... one of the main highlights.. but definitely not the best... i prefer the Detian Waterfalls best... followed by the caves at YangShuo... den Hanoi City... I probably rate it the fourth.....

Day 7B: Hanoi City

After a 4 hour journey from Halong Bay... We finally reached Hanoi City... The Capital City of Vietnam... Wow... The city looks kinda run down... Traffic was horrible too.. Walk as you wish. No traffic lights, zebra crossings are for show. Jaywalking is guaranteed.

Its pretty scary actually, but be safe, walk slowly and you know.... its like walking in a shopping centre in Singapore... you give way like under normal circumstances... car comes 1st give way to car.... pedestrain reach road first, pedestrain... and the motorists are pretty courteous.. they dont bang into you, or rather, seldom... their cars drive like 30km/h in the city. LOL...

They love to horn a lot. But they are just trying to warn you that they are coming. So that you wun bang onto the car. We almost went back deaf... lol.. noise pollution is too high in Hanoi City.

TIPS TO JAYWALKING:
Relax and don't run. Just walk slowly and steadily. The cars will give way to you. If you run, they do not know how to avoid you and just bang onto you.

Anyway, had a trishaw ride there... paid the trishaw uncle RMB10 (SGD$2) instead of the usual RMB5... cos I know its hard on him... my weight. you know you know... 1 hour ride...

Anyway, its pretty challenging to see how they just ride across a 4 way junction without the need to stop. Just ride across as you wish, as you can see from the video.. Surely it scares the hell out of you on the trishaw ride, as you are in front and the uncle just cycles across a 4 way junction with cars and scotters driving right in front of you.

Anyway, my mum's trishaw uncle was horrible.. had 2 minor accidents.... my mum got a shock out of her life. LOL... and he scolded the car owner for not giving way to him... and one was a scooter... my mum was like -_-" ...

Overall, the ride was good enough to let me see the facades of Vietnamese life.. They are just simply simply relaxed people living in the world of the 1960s.... Buying bread from the roadside, being traditional in their thinking... eating on the roadside, squatting down and eating....

economical rice is like having 4 big basins of dishes and den using chopsticks to pick on the dishes you want to eat like a buffet style... sharing with strangers..... but without a common chopstick.

Hotel soup noodles is like having the chef tasted the soup from the ladle and then putting it back into the soup after its deemed to be good to be served.... LOL... as one of the uncles travelling with us saw the hotel chef doing it.. was like... -_-"...

Last but not least, the day ended with a water puppet show in Hanoi City.. Not bad... but was tired.. and almost dozed off...

Day 8: Hanoi (Ba Dihn Square / Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh and Ho Chi Minh House) / Hanoi Airport

Anyway, Ho Chi Minh's ... Vietnam's former president's birthday is coming.... Vietnam had a celebration for him through TV... Can see its people are very nationalistic.. and also respect Ho Chi Minh to the max.... one of the videos I found.. the show we saw was something quite similar like this...

The last day morning we went to Ba Dihn Square... Where Ho Chi Minh's mummified body lies... in a crystal coffin... couldnt snap pictures of him...

Anyway, the queue was like 1 hr to get to see his body... pretty long.... Den we went to visit parliament houses, and the houses Ho Chi Minh used to stay when he was president for Vietnam.

There our trip ended with a coffee drink at Hanoi Airport before we head back to Singapore. Overall, the trip wasnt too great. And I had a bad diarrhoea. =X The landscape and scenic view wasnt tat fantastic. The trip I estimate costs about $1,900 per person inclusive of all things... I would say the trip is more of a waste of money, worth giving it a miss. =X

On the last day, we went to Ba Dihn Square... Had to queue for about 30-45 mins to see Ho Chi Minh's mummified body..... Although he's dead for over 40 years already, his body remains much intact. Can see his full face.... too bad you cant snap a picture of his body... anyway.. the square building houses his body.... we also went to visit the parliament house he used to work at when he was the president for vietnam..... as you can see, he has pictures of karl marx and lenin nailed on the walls of his office!

Can't wait to enjoy myself. Since there is a one week break from the 1st paper to the 2nd, I decided to give myself some entertainment today! Headed down to Orchard for a walk this afternoon...

Had chicken rice at Far East Plaza.... damn ex okay... lol... but its worth it once in a while... =) $8.50 for the plate. Scary huh? wanted to eat both meats.... one type is worth $4.... pretty small portion.... But its quite nice... =)

Den went over to catch the movie "Date Night".... i really wanted to watch this after seeing the synopsis sometime back.. =) Overall the movie is quite a thriller... fast moving... and pretty funny.... seriously its pretty scary to snatch other's people reserved seats and den get into so much trouble. I give it thumbs up. 7.5 / 10. =)

Last week was mum's birthday.... we celebrated at home =) Bought a cake from Prima Deli... Its cookies and cream cake... pretty nice..... Even my dad who doesnt really like cakes say its nice.... lol....

We had a belated birthday lunch later in the weekend.... Bosses or Hei Se Hui @ Vivocity.... Unfortunately, the dishes were kinda disappointing... Most of them had the same quality or even worst than the others.... The whole meal costed us $172. =X Pretty ripped off... Worst of all, it isnt really fulfilling....

Our verdict: We did not order those items that were displayed outside the restaurant...

Previously we ordered those dishes and they were nice... The snow mountain char siew bao's skin was nice btw.... which was ordered.. the only dish bah... the duck... dunno leh...i feel its ok... ordered a couple of times back den... but my parents did not like the taste...

The chee cheong fun was a disaster... xiaolongbao sucks... marina square's nicer.. and cheaper... they did not follow singapore's slogan of being "cheaper, better, faster"....

i was even told not to take pics of the food... wich was like "WTF!!!" .... wanted to tell the PRC staff (if she say again)... if i dun take.. means the food is on the house, since the food is not mine.... cos i cant even take a photo of the product i eat (how can i be paying right?).

Seriously, won't patronise them anytime soon... even if i do...i probably will take down wad i want to order outside... b4 i step in... cos those displayed outside are probably the only food that they know how to cook... Zzz.. The restaurant's menu does not have any picture.. wich is -_-" ....

Starting with Breakfast... Beef noodles is for lunch.... My favourite Kway Chap sometime back..... and I simply love MacDonald's Hotcakes.... purposely woke up early for hotcakes... lol... =)

Nice Weekend! (Part 1)

Had a nice weekend! After the completion of my WIL 2.. LOL...

Met my cousins at Square 2.... some of my coussies came back from australia! =) Had dinner at Hansang Korean Restaurant... Had authentic Korean food there.. the bibmimbap? rice cake.... ginseng chicken soup..... skewers ....bbq meat and so on....

Had a nice chat there... But.. overall.... it wasnt as impressive as the other times i previously went.... service standards dropped like shit.... they hired a lot of PRC staff who dun understand a single word of English... save for the manager who took orders.... and service was slow.... didnt refill our ice water too.... =X....

And their meat portion has shrunk significantly... seriously... Zzz.... The bbq meat u saw earlier was like $30... unbelieveable rite? Zzz... Didnt feel full after eating.... =X

Food wise... the quality.. i dunno leh... i tink its better to bbq it urself... taste better... maybe more fun.... cos we were sitting at the ala-carte tables... as the bbq tables were 6 seaters.... and they cooked for us.. wich apparantly doesnt taste better...

Seriously with the kind of serving and service... they should consider cutting prices by 50% soon... =X

We then headed to Pasta De Waraku downstairs to have some dessert... =) Yummy.... I ordered a Maccha float and a tiramisu parfait for supper...

I still like Pasta De Waraku's parfait... just find it delicious n appetizing!

Nice Weekend (Part 2)

Had Domino's Pizza for dinner the next day! =) Its the first time I ordered this pizza.. wanted to try it... =) .... Afterall, its like the biggest pizza franchisor in the world?

The delivery was impressive.... Took them exactly 30 mins to deliver the pizza..... and they promised free side dishes if they couldnt deliver within 30 mins.... LOL... but the deliveryman did it... exactly 30 mins...haha....

Pizza was hot... The chicken pizza tasted better.. with lots of cheese.. though it doesnt look good in appearance.. so i ordered the small one... The pizza is good as in the ingredients combi and the overall taste ! My brother says the crust is better... though i didnt find the crust any better.. same leh... got diff meh? =)

the bigger pizza has more tomato sauce.... and didnt taste as good...filled with sausages and beef... my family's a cheese lover.... and we really want a pizza filled with cheese.. lol....

The wings pretty oily.. wasnt nice...

The whole meal costs us $49.80 nett for 4 persons... and they didnt come out with service charge adds on like pizza hut.. lol..

Overall, impressive... but i would try to order pizzas with more cheese the next time round... For the rest, probably u all can try it sometime soon... =)

Had family lunch at Mayim Northpoint yesterday.... reserved 2 tables... lol...

Dims sums and all.. I love the "po-lo-bao".... the polo bao sure looks nice in presentation.. taste wise.. oso as good... but theres pumpkin instead of the usual char siew... lol...

Oso tried their pasta rice.... its good... though i am an anti-ketchup person... lol... just taste the way i want it to be... lol... my cousin ordered it... lol... and his main focus was on the dish... haha...

The "sian shui jiao" ... salty water dumpling... was oso quite unique.. i liked the skin... its like the "youzui" (sesame ball) cover.... wrapped with salty chicken filling inside....

Egg tart's durian.... but the skin was nice... the filling was good...

Last but not least, the dessert is the main focus for the meal.... the whole family ordered like 20 mango and durian desserts... everyone ordered one to two.... as you can see for the pileup on the round table.

I loved the durian pudding a lot.. its filled with durian sacs! =) taste... yummy... i looked forward to eating it again! =)

The beforemath of the final school assignment.... and exams...

Went to meet Yinghao and Wendy at Waraku Heerens tat day... wah... the shopping centre... now machiam no shops... massive renovation... whole shopping centre so empty...

Had Waraku of course.. lol.. Eh.. this outlet at Heerens the portion like a lot lesser than other outlets... the taste is the same.. but eat already... not shuang ... the only thing is that the bowl is bigger! ZZzz.. I wanna eat the noodles ... not the bowl!!!

We ordered the cake and shared the 3 flavours..... looks nice and trendy and interesting... but taste ok only...

Anyway... we headed down to PS to watch Clash of the Titans.. wah... actually i dun like this kind of movie... but just tagged along... cos i always feel that sometimes you can get good movies out of the categories u dun really like...

True enough, the story overall... i understand... and i like it.... =) .... quite exciting in the middle and ending...

LOL... I am finally back! Happy April Fool's Day!

Anyway, I shall start with movie reviews....
Watched 3 movies over the past few days... and here it is...

WHEN IN ROME

Its a love comedy... Its about this workaholic woman who went to Rome to attend her sister's wedding... and did not actually believe in the love fountain.... she went to pick up coins thrown by some men... when she is not supposed to.. and the men ended up falling in love with her ... under a curse....

The story I would say ... average.... there were parts that are funny... but it dies down quickly.... there is not much focus .... overall, i would prefer the plot has some focus.. like either on the men whom she dislike keeps on pestering her continuously... or the relationship with the guy she liked.

RATING: 6/10

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON

Call me childish or wad... but i kind of like these kind of movies sometimes... lol... watched it in 3D format... paid $4 more....

Overall, the story plot is about this skinny and weak guy... whose parents and the whole community are all warriors.... and dragon slayers... and he is a weak guy that CMI... lol...

However, he ended up changing and influencing the community not to kill dragons.. upon discovering a secret.. on how to tame these animals....

Its juz amazing... overall the story was a little... touching... and nice .... and funny! Pretty entertaining for this weekend!

CONFUCIUS

The movie overall.. is much more on history and a display of how Confucius went about spreading his ideas to people in ancient China...

Its quite an exposure to me... I didnt even know Confucius was the Prime Minister for Lu Country .... lol.... personally.... i tot he was some nerd that only knows how to talk about ethics and moral values nia... lol... didnt know he knows about war tactics and was involved in political affairs....

The first hour was good... the story moved fast... pretty nice to watch... the 2nd hour was disastrous... it was a 2 hr plus movie... but i hope they can cut 30 mins from towards the ending... too much of dialogues... and a little draggy .... spoiling the movie overall...

RATING: 6.5/10

2 weeks of relaxation....

I will have about 2 weeks of relaxation week.. before i start my next leap of busy schedule again...

FROG PORRIDGE @ CHEONG CHIN NAM

Met Zen and Tsian last Saturday... We had frog porridge together... LOL.... I love frogs! Yummy yummy.... we had it at Cheong Chin Nam Road.... opposite beauty world.... =) Also had tofu to add on to the meal..... overall its a nice meal together... and I hope we can eat frogs more often! LOL... =)

SINGAPORE ICE CREAM @ SERENE CENTRE

We then headed down to Serene Centre at Bukit Timah.. (opposite adam food centre) to have authentic Singapore Homemade Ice Cream! =) The name of the ice cream parlour is Island Creamery... and they have a lot of Nyonya and Singapore style ice cream.... Puleh Hitam and Chendol Ice Cream flavours were ordered by me... OK only... maybe a little better than the Potong Ice cReam! lol.... I think the ice cream Ok only... depends what flavour you order... some are good... some are bad...

However, its a nice place to chill.... =) You can see lots of teenagers eating there... but den... mostly ang moh speaking de....

But what I really enjoy is their Baked Alaska.... i ate it cold twice so far... heard you can make it hot.. but i wonder how it will taste like... anyway, the cold version is that... the cream is special... they burnt the sides... so its kinda crispy a little bit.... and den u have a slight piece of soft cake... and there strawberry ice cream filling inside... the overall taste is good.. and i give it 8/10 for the baked alaska..

They have a wide variety of weird ice creams, such as Nutella, Pear Snow and Teh Tarik... but Pear Snow is not nice.. dun order it! LOL....

BREEKS! @ CAUSEWAY POINT

Had lunch with Shaun tat day...We dine at Breeks! Overall the meal was value for money! The student weekday meal about $9 after taxes.... comes with a soup, ice cream.. and a ultra sizzling hot and spicy chicken chop! =) Overall the spicy chicken chop was nice.. the sauce quite good... =) Nice place to chill for a weekday afternoon when you are too free!

PENG YONG's BIRTHDAY @ BBQ CHICKEN CINELEISURE

Celebrated Pengyong's birthday yesterday! Had dinner @ BBQ Chicken... pretty budget! LOL.... but den the main focus of the celebrations was to watch a movie marathon... in which i treated him to watch.... Confucius and How To Train A Dragon.....

Didnt have much time.. only 1 hour... so we had a quick dinner @ BBQ Chicken.... lol.... I love the olive oil bbq chicken! The taste is just unique, nice and addictive! LOL... Peng ordered a pasta.... =)

Pretty sad that peng, da and i havent met up for months... haix.... i dunno wad to say.... busy and conflicts and all.... i juz hope we can resolve all these issues soon.... =)

As you all know, I have been busy these past weeks.

Doing projects and all... finally can relax for one full weekend liao! LOL... =)

Anyway, I have lost track of dates and all.... so i will just post them in any order I like. LOL...

ORCHARD CENTRAL FRUIT PARADISE / MARCHE @ 313 SOMERSET

Went out with Yim, Wen, Pei they all... We went to Orchard Central... Pei drove us there... lol.. went there to eat Fruit Paradise's tarts!

Pictures say for themselves. Indeed, the display of the tarts really attract me whenever I step in. And you also feel happy, anticipating to eat the tart... actually the tart is good... but pretty expensive.... lol.... $8 for one....

and oh no... the blur waiter drop one of the tarts we ordered on the floor.... -_-" ....

We then had dinner at Marche @ 313 Somerset... Its sells pretty authentic swiss food.... urmmmm..... but the price is like a lot more expensive than Switzerland.

I just realised... I remembered the meal cost us like SIN$25 per person including drinks in Switzerland... and its like dining @ Jacks Place or Waraku where they serve you. In Singapore, you pay about SIN$35 per person plus self service.... -_-" ....

oh my.. the more I go overseas... the more i tink Singapore's things is one of the most expensive in the world... Zzz.... From food to clothes to houses to cars... everything in Singapore is more expensive... which one is cheap? I can only think of labour. LOL....

Anyway, some of their specialty include german sausages.... and bread pudding... a traditional swiss food =)

As all of you know, I like frog porridge a lot.... The geylang outlet opened its branch in Cheong Chin Nam liao... =) I went there alone after sending my parents off at the airport 2 weeks ago..... Had 5 frogs... and a porridge... pretty full lor... haha.... =) NICE! SEDAP LAH! =)

CHICKEN RICE @ CHEONG CHIN NAM

Haha.. I like the chicken rice at Cheong Chin Nam too.. Had lunch there during the week when my parents were in vacation... lol...

I like the Pyramid Shaped Rice... fragrant! lol.... and the chicken is tender... nice.... oso had craving for Hotplate Beancurd... Was a waste because they charge me the same price... without prawns.... quite stupid rite?

I ended up asking for more mushrooms ... lol... they say they cannot substitute with chicken and pork.. zzz....

AL-AZHAR @ CHEONG CHIN NAM

Went to eat Al-azhar with Anwen, Roger and Weiqi today, after our presentation! Had prata.... and their super big satay... 3 times bigger than normal satay.. but $1.20 each... lol... Overall, the prata was ok... the curry was good...

the satay i would say.... good too... just tat a bit too long.... u will have problems dipping it for the bottom part of the stick.... had to bite it to to front and dip.. lol... but i was the only person who ordered the satay.. who cares? LOL... "Hua Yi Ju Hor"

Surpisingly, also had Prata the day before... went there with Roger and Weiqi....

The prata is better than Al-Azhar... but the sauce sucks.... doesnt taste like curry at all.. just weird.... i tink it would be best ordering their other pratas that do not require dipping the curry sauce...

BREAKFAST @ MAC
Had breakfast at Mac on Monday.. I like Mac's breakfast.. I find that their lunch and dinner menu sucks... Actually this meal costs me $9.50.... can u beereve it... One cappucino... one scrambled egg... one harshbrown.... one chicken patty... and 2 slides of grape muffin.... I like Mac's new executive breakfast.. but i prefer if it would have been cheaper, like $7 .... lol... $9.50 a bit scary... lol... but once in a while, must spoil myself... especially when i have to cut the 8,000 word report to 5,000 after the breakfast! LOL..

HOCK LAM BEEF NOODLES @ BPP

Tried Hock Lam Beef Noodles with Shaun.. =) Its newly opened in Bukit Panjang Plaza... one of their franchise from the real Hock Lam Beef Noodles.... Kenneth say the original one that has no air-con at a coffee shop is nicer @ about $6 ... My 1st time eating their noodles.... Its quite an experience.. the noodles cost about $9 a bowl... Its quite unique.. but overall a $6 would be more reasonable....

Overall, the noodles was OK... but i prefer the Lai Lai Beef Noodles.. i dunno why....

Also had lunch with Shaun at Jack's Place.. unfortunately the lighting cannot make it.. so no pics... =X

WAN CHAI TEA HOUSE @ IMM
Had dinner there... ordered a Rockmelon Sago with ice cream...a mushroom sausage rice... and a milk tea.... nice! Overall experience good... ! =)

The Durex Global Sex Survey ranks Singapore as one of the least sexually active nations. But Jack Neo seems to have debunked the survey and given new hope for Singaporeans, as news of him having had flings with 10 women surfaces.

The 50-year-old film director's affair with 22-year-old model Wendy Chong was exposed when the latter went to his Pasir Ris home to confront his wife.

Now, according to reports from The New Paper and Shin Min Daily News, nine other women are said to have had flings with him.

STOMPer I Not Boring, who read the latest update on the Jack Neo scandal, says that amid all the jeers that the director is getting, this is perhaps something Singaporeans can cheer about.

Says the STOMPer:

"Ok, so everyone is saying he is a jerk, but when the whole world is laughing at us for being the least sexually active nation and the least likely to achieve orgasm during sex, Jack has actually given us new hope.

Went out with Tsian today...

We went to watch Little Big Soldier.... Heard from friends its a nice movie... so went to watch.. lol... My review is that the movie is quite good.... although not as funny as Alls Well Ends Well 2010..... The ending kinda ruin the story a bit.... Hope they have a happy ending instead.. lol.... Overall... Jackie Chan had a lot of fighting scenes.... and its quite nice... he acted very well as the "chao keng" soldier.. lol...

RATINGS: 8/10

We then went to Cheong Chin Nam Road for Steamboat buffet... Weird it sounds... Weather is so hot and we are going for steamboat dinner... to make ourselves even hotter... lol... Ate at Xian De Lai Shanghai Cuisine... for steamboat buffet...

Anyway, I feel that they have a very good soup base..... they refill the soup with the flavour of the soup.... not just hot water .... =) But didnt eat a lot... probably due to hot weather... we ate quite little... costed us $22 nett a person.... Meat wise was ok... and they let u have the best of both worlds.... bbq and steamboat... i prefer steamboat only in the end... the bbq wasnt tat good... not much seasoning on the meat.... ended up eating plain meat though bbq-ed... and to have the both worlds, you need to sit outside the restaurant.. which is kinda hot....

I Still prefer the one at Tiong Bahru... lol...

Anyway, kinda sad... projects are like coming up.... datelines drawing closer.. but i havent really started on it... looks like today's gonna be a busy day!

MRT toilets used as gay hangouts, says STOMPer

STOMPer Pissed says that toilets in MRT stations are being used as meeting points for the gay community in Singapore. He says he had even heard them having sex in one of the cubicles.

The STOMPer recounts his own experience after reading STOMPer Chua's posting on peeping toms who prey on other men in toilets at the Lavender and Ang Mo Kio stations.

According to STOMPer Pissed, he was using the urinal in the Clementi MRT station toilet at about 10pm one evening when he saw several adults in their 30s and 50s standing there, peeping at each other's private parts.

When he used the cubicle the next time he used the same toilet, he overheard moanings and 'dirty' words being spoken by men in the next cubicle. From their accent, he believed that the men were China nationals.

As the STOMPer was washing his hands at the basin afterwards, he said a man smiled at him, presumably inviting him to engage in gay activities.

When the STOMPer reported the matter to staff at the control station, he got the impression that they were already aware of the gay activities because they were too quick in telling him that they were going to inform the police, without even asking for his particulars.

"I assume they just brushed me off with a 'logical answer' and took no further action," said the STOMPer.

The STOMPer did his own research on the Internet and found out from gay forums that MRT stations, shopping centres and men-only saunas are popular hangouts for the gay community here.

Beware of peeping toms in men's toilets at Ang Mo Kio and Lavender stations

STOMPer Chua has been noticing that there are men who loiter around MRT station toilets apparently waiting to peep at other men as they are using the urinal.

In an email to STOMP today (Mar 1), the STOMPer says:

“I have noticed that there are men who loiter around men’s toilets in MRT stations, especially Ang Mo Kio and Lavender station.

“They are usually around 40-years-old, the ah-pek kinds.

“They would stand at the urinal for more then 10 minutes and peep at the private parts of the man next to them.

“These men would usually walk to the basin to wash their hands and walk back to the urinal to repeat their antics.”

Chinese New Year (Year of the Tiger)

Chinese New Year has about a week more to go. Understand that you all may want to consider watching some movies over the weekend. Shall do movie reviews for the 3 shows I watched during the week. Shall rate the one I liked best.

I would say All's Well Ends Well 2010 is one of the best films for this season. YES! Its quite funny and I laughed throughout. Its a retro setting movie of the 1800s but with added flavour of today's world.... If you want some laughter and good jokes and also experience the good crazy but funny acting by the actors and actresses... seriously go for it.

RATINGS: 9.5/10

72 Tenants is a production movie made by TVB and Shaw Brothers.... overall the story hasn't got much storyline in it.. but its funny!!!! =) continuous humours and lots of surprises and cosplay ... The movie has got one of the most main cast acting in as cameos in almost all the scenes... with bosco wong... jacky zhang and zheng zhi wei as main casts....

Overall I enjoyed the movie... they had many songs wich wasnt translated to cantonese... thankfully... if not, the whole movie would have been ruined..

However, the translation for dialogues to mandarin was horrible.... even simple translations like 127 in cantonese (according to subtitles) was translated as 438 in mandarin... The movie would have been better off if its in cantonese... i rather watch it in the original form.. juz like korean, japanese and thai films... rather than a translated film from cantonese...

Watching it in Malaysia would give you a better rating as its in cantonese...

14 Blades pretty cool.... overall storyplot was plain.... but i can say that donnie yen fights a lot in this film... unlike the other film earlier in the year where there wasnt much fighting... so wich is quite good... and a lot of shuai ge in the movies like wu zhun inside... lol... Overall its quite a good movie.... with much more budget spent...

Of course, Chinese New Year starts off with a reunion dinner at my late ahmah's house.... with dad's family.... Had a steamboat dinner... didnt have pics to show here.... lol.... started receiving red packets liao.... =)

Watched the channel 8 countdown new year show... visit my mahmah and gonggong the next day (mum's mum and dad).... My uncle also came back from australia with his family to visit my grandparents! LOL.... Went to bainian for the rest of day 1.... didnt have much relatives actually.... was just two more houses after tat...

Whole of Chinese New Year was just slacking.... 2nd day watched 72 Tenants with family in the morning.... had steamboat dinner at my own home... abalone dinner and pig's kidney steamboat... my favourite... !!! =) The next day went out with my mum's family again.... for a lunch at Mayim Northpoint... loved the durian pudding most! =)

Was pretty full after the lunch..... Went out with Tsian Hwee at about 5pm after tat for the movie 14 Blades... We were too early for the show....730pm and couldnt have dinner when we meet... as we had lunch at about 3pm.... We decided to settle down at Fruit Paradise... Had always wanted to try this cafe ... cos the cafe exterior's really nice! =) And their pies really look yummy! =)

Tsian even wanted to order one of the pies at the counter where they display the pies for sale... only to be told that its sold out though the item's there.. and then the crew pinch the pie and say.. the first level is a toy..... whereas the row below is the real thing.... we were like... WOAH.... LOOKS LIKE REAL!

The pie wasnt cheap.. about $8.... but its worth a try.... or maybe once a year kind of food.... the ambience is nice... cos its at Orchard Central... not much people.... quiet and cold place to be in! =)

we had late dinner after tat at Youth Park ..... Had satay...stingray and all...

Went out with Tsian Hwee and Zhenhui the next day! =) We went to River Hongbao @ Marina.... =)

Walked around..... visited Cai Shen Ye... Kinda weird.. wondered why they give him budget clothing to wear... Cai Shen Ye must wear something golden bright red mah.... why that red colour robe nia?

Anyway, there were a couple of interesting exhibitions there.... like the candy made dragon.... and the dragon and phoniex made with clay spoons and cutlery....

Watched Alls Well Ends Well.... den we later had dinner... ordered my favourite tzi char dish.... Hotplate Beancurd Rice... =) Went to Bai Nian at my house after which! =)

The new year holiday was long... but good times past fast... a 5 day long weekend seems like only 1 day.. lol... and i am now back in school... the following day... only to realise my project datelines are all coming in... like one project dateline every week... SCAARY HUH?

Met out with JWJW and Jesmen's friends on Sunday for pre lunar new year celebrations...

We had steamboat...at Bugis.... Chuan Yi Pin...

Havent seen them for a long time liao.... Its finally time to catch up liao... lol...

Didnt know the girls dun eat so many things de... LOL... got a shock... they more picky than me.... two dun eat beef... one dun eat seafood.... urm... soup oso cannot put... lol... worst than me... haha... i tot i already beri choosy liao.. cannot eat seafood... lol...

Had tonnes of meat... haha... lol.. and i like the "mala" soup always... lol.... anyway, the "da wei wang" goes to Yim.. OMG... Unbelieveable right? LOL... She came late anyway.... was busy doing her project in the library before tat... she went to take rice after everybody is full and stopped eating .... I think maybe she never eat lunch... lol...

Took Air India home after the outing... 960.... u know wad i mean... cos u'll pass by Little India ..... and even the bus driver oso need to say "Please Move To The Back" in Bangladeshi language... on Sunday night because the workers are off on Sunday and need to go home from Little India after their outing at "Orchard Road" .... i find it truely amazing!...

Marina Square Outing

Went out with Zen on Friday.... We went to sing KTV at Marina Square! =) $8 nett for 3 hours.... I think Kbox gonna close shop soon.. seems like their business has been affected a lot by the recession... plus there were not many new songs coming out from Taiwan / Hong Kong lately... plus their arrogant service has put off many from coming in to sing.... plus their fabulous pricing on weekends... fabulous as in.. $50 bucks per person, anyone?

Haha... anyway, we got a DEAL! LOL... $8 nett for a weekday afternoon... 3 hours of singing... with tidbits and yougurt drink each.... =) Nice time spent there.... and oso listen to zen's singing... haha... er... i tink i gotta listen to more songs... keep singing just a few songs.. lol... We got a photo souvenior too.... but you gotta pay $2 per photo ... KBOX so desperate to earn $2 nowadays.. lol... but the quality kinda sucks.... haha.... a bit blur leh! LOL..

We had lunch at my favourite Xiao Long Bao Restaurant before that.... =) and La Mian...

We walked around for a while before we head down to Swensen's for dinner... lol.... Had a $20 voucher... So each of us saved $10.... I ordered the Chicken Baked Rice and a Mango Yougurt Ice Cream to eat... Overall was good....

Went out alone in the last Sunday of January.. Watched "My Ex" at Toa Payoh EW Cinema... lol... Had a $2 voucher and wanted to use it.... lol... there were like 10 person in the cinema on this weekend.. lol... initially i tot i will be alone.. wich would be rather freaky... lol... wanted to watch on weekday.. but i dared not watch at ew cinema as there will be noone in their west mall outlet.. lol....

Overall, the movie had an obvious storyline... NEVER FLIRT... lol.... it showed you how this TV actor got himself into trouble with his ex, whom he dumped after the ex got pregnant... the ex wanted to commit suicide by getting herself knocked down in a lorry accident.. but the lorry ended up killing the gf that replaced the ex.... the gf is also another ex whom the tv actor dumped again....

The most scary scene was the pregnant ex den went to commit suicide in her own room.... kinda scary but a bit over.... the pregnant woman went to take a knife and poke it into her vagina.... pull the baby out and den slammed it on the glass partition... den the baby went crying and den "piak".... like some orange juice died...

Overall, its good for a weekday movie... not too much of a weekend movie getaway...

Went out with Kenneth and Shaun at Jurong Point for beef noodles ..... lol... we had a $5 voucher and wanted to use it.... Shaun was implemented with the new Late Taxes... lol.... as an avid latecomer.. he was imposed Late Taxes.. 1 minute late = 1% of the restaurant bill... lol... he ended up being late for 29 minutes.... and we requested that he paid 29% of the restaurant bill....

Met up with Weiqi, Roger and gf after tat for the match Albirex against Home United...
